Shopping in Myeong-dong
Myeong-dong is regaining its former fame as major brands aggressively open flagship stores in the area. From shoes and clothing to cosmetics and global brands, it’s an easy place to enjoy shopping.
Myeong-dong is regaining its former fame as major brands aggressively open key stores in the commercial district. The area becomes even busier when Japan’s Golden Week begins in late April and early May. Lotte Department Store, familiar to Japanese visitors, has both its main branch and Avenuel, its luxury wing, at the entrance to Myeong-dong. In addition, shops selling everything from shoes and clothes to accessories are densely packed in a range of affordable price points, so shopping here feels easy and 부담이 없습니다. Beauty stores are by far the most popular shopping spots. Along with The Face Shop and Etude House, which have won over Japanese women, stores such as Skin Food, Missha, Aritaum, Hanskin, and Banila Co. are counted among the best places for cosmetics shopping. Large flagship stores of global brands such as ZARA, Forever 21, and GAP are also concentrated in Myeong-dong, exciting foreign shoppers. The street stalls lining the roads are another element that makes shopping in Myeong-dong even more fun.
