Tongin Market
Sejong Village was once a center where Joseon-era artists such as Chusa Kim Jeong-hui gathered, and in modern times it was also a hub where writers including Lee Sang were active. Originating as a public market built during the Japanese colonial period for Japanese residents, it developed into the kind of market where people buy and sell goods after the population increase following the Korean War.

Tongin Market is well known as a vibrant commercial district and as a benchmark example for other traditional markets, and the brass coins made by Tongin Market itself are one of its unique attractions. When you exchange money for the coins, you also receive a black plastic tray, and from then on you can carry the tray around the market and eat your way through different stalls. However, the coins can only be used at affiliated stores.
