With PDRN now a hot skincare keyword, one question reportedly keeps coming up in supplier meetings: "Is this from salmon or from plants?"

Common concerns in the field

• More sources than before: besides DNA from salmon milt, DNA materials made from plants or microbial fermentation are also being pitched as "PDRN".
• INCI name vs marketing name: shoppers look for the word PDRN in the ingredient list, but the actual listing differs by material, which confuses people.
• Vegan and halal questions: export managers say overseas buyers ask more often whether it is animal-derived.
• Concentration labeling: a frequent reminder is that putting an ingredient in the product name brings content-labeling duties with it.

What we want to discuss Some brands lead with the source to stand out. Others barely mention it and talk about texture and skin feel instead. Both are strategies, but people disagree on which one causes less consumer confusion.
