ACTIWISE ECTOINE is a pure form of ectoine, present in a range of bacteria to cope with extreme conditions. This ingredient is highly useful to protect us from damaging ageing stresses, too. ACTIWISE ECTOINE is soluble in water, which makes it easy to incorporate in the water phase of products. Suitable use concentrations are approx. 0.3- 2%. ACTIWISE ECTOINE improves skin repair after physical injury, boosts the levels of proteins important in cell integrity after UVB irradiation, reduces ROS (reactive oxygen species) after UVA and stimulates our own defence system. Furthermore, ACTIWISE ECTOINE shows anti-inflammatory properties and improves the skin barrier after SDS damage, as shown by TEWL measurements. ACTIWISE ECTOINE is COSMOS approved, is halal certified, and is suitable for vegans. Ectoine is used by bacteria and archaea living under extreme conditions to protect cell components (e.g. proteins). ActiWise Ectoine uses these survival mechanisms to protect ourselves against the negative impact of external stresses, and can be used to protect the skin against effects of UV, light, harmful chemicals, pollutants, irritancy of surfactants. Its efficacy on long lasting moisturisation, and its soothing effect contributes to a healthy skin as well.
