Using a Sheet Mask Every Day—Why Is My Skin Getting Drier?
Sheet masks are convenient, but some people find that after using them every day, their skin is more prone to redness and dryness. The reason may not be the mask itself, but how it’s used.

It could be because you left it on for too long or didn’t seal in the moisture afterward; it doesn’t necessarily mean there’s something wrong with the mask itself. If you keep a sheet mask on after it starts to dry, evaporation can make your face feel tighter. Fragrance, essential oils, or certain preservative systems may also irritate easily sensitized skin. If you have persistent redness or stinging after use, stop using it for now rather than trying to tough it out by using it more often; if the discomfort is significant or keeps recurring, consider seeing a dermatologist.
If you want to keep using masks, try cutting back to once or twice a week. Remove it according to the time on the packaging, and don’t wait for it to dry completely. Then gently press in the remaining essence and apply a layer of moisturizer containing glycerin, ceramides, or squalane to lock in moisture. If your skin is already dry, regular moisturizing is generally a more reliable option than using sheet masks every day. You could also try a fragrance-free wash-off moisturizing mask, but test it on a small area first.
