Why does lip tint pool in lip lines, and what helps?
Water and gel tints are loved for their stain, but the same stain can settle into lip lines, turn patchy on dry spots or leave a darker ring on the inner lip.
Things people commonly suggest:
- Prep: a thin balm a few minutes before, then blot it off so the surface is smooth but not slippery.
- Less product: one dot in the center, pressed outward with a fingertip, instead of painting the whole lip.
- Gradient on purpose: keep color on the inner lip and blur the edge, so any unevenness looks intentional.
- Seal lightly: a sheer gloss or balm on top evens the look for some; others say it makes the tint move.
- Removal: an oil-based remover rather than scrubbing, since stains can take a few passes.
Very dry or cracked lips often show every flaw, so some people save stain tints for days when their lips are in good shape.
