There’s a higher chance than you think that you’re misunderstanding your skin type
It’s quite common to think you have oily skin when it’s actually dehydrated, or to think you have sensitive skin when your cleansing routine is simply too harsh.
After cleansing, if you apply nothing and 30 minutes later your cheeks feel tight but only your T-zone looks shiny, what is your skin type?
If you often feel a "stinging sensation," what should you suspect first?

Your skin type is less of a “label that stays the same for life” and more the result of your genetically determined tendency toward oiliness combined with the season, indoor humidity, and cleansing habits. Feeling very tight right after cleansing doesn’t automatically mean you have dry skin, and looking shiny doesn’t necessarily mean you have oily skin. If your cleanser or exfoliation routine is too harsh, you may feel both tightness and oiliness.
For a simple check, cleanse gently, leave your skin bare for about 30 minutes, and observe how shiny or tight your forehead, nose, and cheeks feel. However, it’s hard to determine your skin type from a single check, so it’s better to repeat it on days in different seasons. Try cleansing briefly with lukewarm water and a gentle cleanser, and adjust your moisturizing routine to whatever feels comfortable for your skin. If stinging or redness persists or suddenly gets worse, seeing a dermatologist should take priority over self-diagnosis.
