Slugging is back for winter: can acne-prone skin do it too?
Sluggingmeans finishing your evening routine witha thin layer of petrolatum such as Vaseline. It started overseas and comes back every winter in Korea as well.
The positive stories
- Much less tightness on waking
- Flaky spots around the mouth and nose calmed down
- Some saw benefits using it only on dry areas, not the whole face
The cautious stories
- Acne-prone and oily skin types report feeling suffocated and getting more tiny bumps
- It rubs off on pillows and hair sticks to it
- Sealing acids or retinoids underneath made irritation worse for some
The compromise people often suggest
- Only on dry spots like around the mouth, the outer eye area and beside the nose
- Only on very dry days, not nightly
- Skip strong actives on slugging nights
The same method gets very different reactions by skin type, so many start small and in patches.
Have you tried slugging? Full face, spot only, or never?
