Qoo10 Mega Wari: great deals, or just a growing stash of sets and freebies?
When Qoo10 Japan's "Mega Wari" sale opened on 28 August at 5 pm, a "What are you buying?" thread went up on Girls Channel, a large Japanese women's forum. It passed 200 comments, mixing wish lists with the question of whether it really saves money.
What the replies said
- Several were torn between sets from BIOHEAL BOH, d'Alba, Abib and medicube
- Someone noticed the bonus in Anua's box had shrunk from a full-size item to a trial size
- Self-mockery about 1+1 deals and sample-packed boxes: the stash keeps growing, but there is only one face
- One stopped buying because the free lipsticks always come in colours that don't suit them
- A comparison camp: "not as cheap as it looks", and Amazon sales are sometimes cheaper, so check
- Beyond cosmetics, some stock up on shampoo or food from Japanese brands' official shops there
Negative comments stood out too, but among buyers the rule of thumb was: official shops, only what you need, after comparing prices.
Desk note According to Qoo10's company page, Qoo10 in Japan is operated by eBay Japan G.K.; eBay acquired Qoo10's Japan business in 2018. That surprised a few commenters who saw it as a Korean site. Comparing the regular price with other stores before applying the coupon is the simplest way not to lose out.
What was your most satisfying buy in a big K-beauty sale, and which set did you regret?
