Why Korea's official "acne" claim only shows up on cleansers
Browse Olive Young for the official "helps relieve acne-prone skin" functional label and you will notice almost every hit is a face wash or body wash. That is by design.
How the Korean rule works

The acne-relief functional cosmetic category is limited to rinse-off cleansing products, and each one goes through MFDS review or reporting.

The most common active is salicylic acid, which helps clear dead skin and sebum.

It is still a cosmetic, not a treatment. Claims like "cures acne" count as false or exaggerated advertising.
What to check when buying
- The "functional cosmetic" wording or mark on the pack, plus the stated effect
- If unsure, look it up on MFDS's nedrug.mfds.go.kr
When using it
- Keep it off mucous membranes, cuts and eczema patches
- Stop if long use over large areas brings redness or itching
- Rinse eyes with water straight away if it gets in
So a "trouble care" line on a serum or cream is a different thing from this certification. Do you check for the functional label when you shop?
