The key is not the formula, but the labeled SPF·PA and applying enough. Sun serum is also a sun protection product, just like sunscreen, so check the product label and apply it evenly over your entire face. A dewy feel may be an advantage, but if you apply too little because it feels lightweight, you can’t expect the labeled level of protection.

      • Sunscreen: A good all-around choice for your morning routine. Choose a formula that’s easy to apply without missing any spots on your face and neck.
      • Sun serum: For when a fresh finish or hydration is your priority. Don’t apply less just because it’s called a “serum.”
      • Sun stick: Convenient for reapplication outdoors, but swiping it on once or twice may not be enough. Apply several layers and cover contoured areas, too.
      • Sun cushion: Convenient for touching up over makeup. Pick up enough product on the puff and press it on. It’s safer to carefully apply a separate sunscreen as your first layer of protection in the morning.

If you’re exposed to sweat or water, or will be outdoors for a long time, reapply according to the product instructions, and use a hat or shade as well. Avoid inhaling sun spray; rather than spraying it directly onto your face, spray it onto your hands and apply it that way.
