Dry Skin in Winter: The Korean Layering Trick
In Korea, instead of a very heavy cream, many people prefer several thin layers: hydrating toner, serum, and cream. The idea is to hydrate first and seal it in afterward.

The “hydrate and seal” approach can feel comfortable in winter, but more layers don’t always mean more hydration: sometimes they just increase stickiness or irritation. To start, I’d try two or three thin stepson slightly damp skin: a toner or essence withglycerinorpanthenol, a serum only if it adds something different, and finally a cream with ceramides. If the cream is already enough for you, you can skip the serum; there’s no need to complete a routine out of obligation.
Apply each layer without waiting for your skin to dry completely, and reduce or stop using any product that causes persistent stinging. If the dryness comes with cracks, pain, or irritation that doesn’t improve, it’s best to consult a dermatologist instead of continuing to add layers. For the poll, 2–3 seems like a reasonable starting point, but it depends on the texture of the products and what feels comfortable to you.
