Oily skin in tropical heat: a light Korean routine that won't melt off
In Cancún, Barranquilla, Panama or Santo Domingo, oily skin needs a different logic: fewer layers, more watery textures, and consistency. This is what skincare communities usually suggest for that climate:
Morning
- Gentle cleanser that doesn't leave skin tight (that "squeaky" feeling isn't a good sign).
- Gel moisturiser or a very light emulsion.
- Fluid or gel sunscreen, in a proper amount.
Night
- Double cleanse if you wore water-resistant sunscreen: cleansing oil or balm, then a gentle cleanser.
- One active at a time, e.g. niacinamide or a mild chemical exfoliant a few days a week.
- Light moisturiser: oily skin gets dehydrated too.
Tips people repeat
-
Blotting papers in your bag instead of washing your face five times a day.
-
Don't stack several exfoliants at once.
-
For persistent or painful breakouts, see a dermatologist.
