Breakouts on just one cheek: could it be your phone or pillow?
"It is always my left cheek" is a surprisingly common complaint. On skincare forums, the first suspects people name are things that touch that side of your face a lot.
Usual suspects
- Phone screen: calls always pressed to the same cheek
- Pillowcase: sleeping on the same side every night
- Resting your face on your hand: while studying or working
- Masks, headsets, hair: friction, plus hair products brushing the skin
Checks people often try
- Wipe your phone screen regularly and use earphones for calls
- Change pillowcases often, or lay a fresh towel on top each night
- Spend a week noticing when you touch that cheek
If spots keep appearing in the same place anyway, or you get painful, swollen lumps, get it looked at by a dermatologist.
Have you had one-sided breakouts? If you found the cause, what was it?
