China's 'vitamin C by day, retinoid by night' trend — is it big in Korea too?
'Morning C, night A' (vitamin C in the morning, a retinoid at night) has been a big trend in Chinese-language skincare circles. What does Korea make of it?
Looking at Korean products and discussions:
- Vitamin C and retinol products are both everywhere, and plenty of people pair them
- But the words you hear most in Korean skincare talk are barrier, soothing and hydration; stabilise the skin first
- Many Korean brands make retinol in low-strength, gentle beginner formulas
Tips you hear everywhere:
- Start retinoids slowly, around two or three nights a week
- Be extra careful with sunscreen while using them
- If stinging or redness persists, stop and consider asking a dermatologist
- Using both isn't automatically better; a pace your skin tolerates matters more
Are you team C+A, or team 'barrier first'?
