Using an agency or interpreter for a Korean skin clinic? Think these through first
The language barrier is many visitors' biggest worry, so people look into agencies, companions or interpreters. Points that come up often (general info, not about any specific business):
Know who you're dealing with
-
Is it the clinic's own international team or Chinese-speaking coordinator, or a third-party agency?
-
If third-party, ask upfront who pays their fee and whether it's extra
Quotes and treatments
- Ask what the price covers: consultation, treatment, numbing cream, aftercare items
- Make sure treatment names match; ask for the Korean name in writing
- What you actually get should be confirmed with you by the doctor after a consultation, not decided by the agent
Communication and privacy
- Allergies and medications must be passed on in full
- Ask who receives your photos and records and how they're used
After you fly home
- Confirm who to contact and how if something feels wrong
Did you handle it yourself, use the clinic's language service, or go through an agency? How was it?
