  Water tint: thin, quick-setting colour with a noticeable stain. Lovely for a light gradient; can cling to dry patches, so prep with balm and blot it off before applying.
  
  Gel or juicy tint: more cushion and shine, usually with a softer, more comfortable feel than a watery formula. The shine fades first; the tint underneath can remain.
  
  Glass tint: the most reflective, slippery-looking finish. It may transfer more while fresh, so give it a minute to settle and expect to reapply shine through the day.
  
  Velvet or blur tint: soft-focus, less shiny colour—often easiest to wear blurred at the edges. It can emphasize flakes, so smooth lips gently and use a thin layer rather than piling it on.

  Try this simple prep: apply a balm a few minutes beforehand and blot off the excess with a tissue; your lips should feel soft, not slippery. If there are flakes, it’s better to soften them with warm water and gently pat them with a towel, without rubbing or exfoliating daily—that can leave more texture. Then apply a very thin layer of tint and let it set before adding another. Watery and matte finishes tend to emphasize lines more; a gel or balm-like one may disguise them better. If it still collects, maybe the formula isn’t right for you: try applying it in taps only to the center and blending outward.
