Japanese visitors to Korea hit a record in 2025: the "go to Korea today" era

According to the Korea Tourism Organization, 3.65 million​Japanese travellers visited Korea in 2025, a new record. The 2026 target is4.5 million (up 23%). Here is what Japanese travel trade site Travel Voice reported about how trips are changing.

Korea now feels as close as a domestic trip

• Social media shows more day trips and one-night stays.

1. Campaigns for people who have never been
2. Turning women in their 20s and 30s into repeat visitors (LCC tie-ups, more medical tourism)
3. Spreading visitors to newer areas like Seongsu and Hannam-dong and to smaller cities through a "30 small-town walks" list

With SNS and AI shaping travel decisions, the article says the idea of "going to Korea today" is becoming real.
