The product I’d vote most likely to cause regret is a cushion foundation bought just because it was trending: it looks just right when you swatch it under the store lights, but once you get home and encounter natural light, oiliness, or oxidation, both the shade and the finish can be off. Especially if you want a soft-focus matte finish but buy a dewy one, or you’re dry-skinned and go for extreme staying power, it often ends up being “nothing wrong with the product, just the wrong timing.”
To avoid missteps, try base makeup on your jawline and wait a while before checking it; confirming the undertone, how it oxidizes, and how to touch it up is more reliable than just looking at it on a beauty influencer. And don’t layer exfoliating products too frequently just because they leave your skin feeling “fresh and smooth”—check the directions first, and don’t pile them on in the same evening with other strong active products you already use.
I don’t have a personal product-fail story to share, but these kinds of “it’s not bad, it’s just not right for me” experiences are worth sharing: it helps to include your skin type, the situation you were using it in, and exactly what didn’t work, so others can more easily tell whether they might run into the same issue.
