Korean cosmetics exports to Japan top $1 billion for a second year

Korean trade paper Beautynury broke down the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's 2025 cosmetics export figures by country.

Overall

• 2025 cosmetics exports: $11.431 billion, up 12.3%.

• Export destinations grew from 172 countries in 2024 to 202.

Top three markets

1. United States: number one for the first time
2. China: $2.014 billion
3. Japan: $1.087 billion (up 5%)

Japan has now been above $1 billion for two years running. Growth is slower than in the US, but it is steady in a market that was already large.

Many people in Japan feel K-beauty has moved from a passing trend to a permanent shelf in drugstores and variety shops.
