Rubbing oil on your nose for minutes to pull out "grits": have you tried it?
Every so often social media rediscovers "grits": massage cleansing oil over your nose and chin for a long time, tiny specks roll off onto your fingertips, and people post them as gunk pulled from their pores.
The fans say
- Nose skin feels smoother afterward
- It hurts less than pore strips
- Visible results are satisfying
The sceptics say
- Many of those specks may be clumped oil, dead skin and leftover makeup
- Minutes of rubbing is friction, which can irritate
- Some acne-prone people report more tiny bumps, depending on the oil
Lines people who try it keep
- Light pressure, short sessions
- Occasionally, not daily
- Rinse thoroughly and finish gently
The overall view leans toward it being mild exfoliation rather than truly emptying pores.
Have you tried the grits method? Did it work, or just leave you irritated?
