Cushion puff hygiene: how often to wash it and when to swap refills
A cushion compact is easy to throw in a bag and forget about. But the puff goes from your face back into a damp sponge every day, so a little upkeep goes a long way.
Habits commonly recommended:
- Wash the puff regularly, many people say at least once a week, with a gentle cleanser or puff cleaner. Squeeze, do not wring or twist.
- Dry it fully in open air before putting it back. A damp puff in a closed case is the part people worry about most.
- Keep a spare puff so you are never tempted to reuse a dirty one.
- Close the lid tightly so the refill does not dry out.
- Swap the refill if the smell, color or texture changes, and check the opened-after date on the packaging.
Nice extras:
-
Many Korean cushions sell refills separately, which is cheaper and less wasteful than a new case.
-
Replace the puff itself when it gets stiff or starts to tear.
If you notice breakouts where you apply cushion, looking at puff hygiene first is an easy step.
How often do you actually wash your cushion puff? Be honest.
