Olive Young N Seongsu's scalp check: 9 in 10 users are foreigners
Are people coming to Korea to look after their scalp, not just their skin? One number stood out in a report on the Seongsu shopping district this year.
At Olive Young N Seongsu, about 90% of people using the scalp consultation service are foreigners. Foreign customers also make up more than 80% of the store's total sales.
Why? The article says travel spending is shifting from price-driven shopping to experiences. Consultations and hands-on services you can only get in Korea are becoming the destination.
Travel forums echo this:
- Some try in-store measurements as a fun souvenir
- Some use the results as a guide for choosing shampoo or scalp products
- Others point out that in-store checks are sales consultations, so they take them lightly
Remember that an in-store check is not a medical diagnosis. If you're worried about hair loss or a scalp condition, a dermatologist is the right person to see.
Have you tried an in-store skin or scalp check while travelling? Was it useful?
