Money is the quiet subtext of almost every skincare thread. Dupes, hauls, sale calendars, 'is this worth it' posts: they all come back to budget.

Things people often say shape their number:
- Sunscreen use: daily, generous application goes through bottles faster than people expect

- Sales: some people stock up twice a year and spend almost nothing in between
- Testing habit: buying new things to try is usually the biggest variable
