Potassium sorbate is safe for cosmetic use at concentrations up to 0.5%, with recommended usage often falling between 0.1% and 0.5% in formulations. However, the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) Expert Panel has also found it safe at higher concentrations, including up to 10%, though this level is not typically used in cosmetics.
